Anniversary Mass for Éamonn Ceannt
Dolphins Barn parish will hold an Anniversary Mass for the Irish republican, Éamonn Ceannt (21 September 1881 – 8 May 1916) on the 8th May at 11.00am in the church of Our Lady of Dolours.
Ceannt was one of the seven men to sign the Proclamation of Independence for the Irish Republic and had been appointed Director of Communications he played a huge part in the Easter Rising of 1916. His unit saw intense fighting during the Rising week, but surrendered when ordered to do so by his superior officer Patrick Pearse.
