The Ballyroan Parish Pastoral Council was formed in 2002. It is a recognised structure within the Church concerned with the pastoral activities of parish life. The role of the Parish Pastoral Council is set out in Canon 536 of the code of Canon Law and in 2004 Archbishop Martin mandated all of the 200 parishes in the Dublin diocese to form a Parish Pastoral Council.
It is made up of a representative body of parishioners and must include the parish Priest or his delegate. The membership also includes the Parish Team, a representative of the Religious Communities, and 8 elected parishioners drawn from the Faith Community.
The Council has the responsibility for guiding the well-being and future development of our faith community. In all that it does it will be guided by the Parish Mission Statement and by a desire to make real its vision of Christian community. Parish Pastoral Councils enable priests and people to work together to build up a dynamic Christian community that is characterised by faith, worship and service. This includes assisting the prayer life of the parish, facilitating dialogue and communication with and between the various parish groups, listening carefully to the needs of the people in the parish, reflection, planning and reviewing the life and activities in the parish.
